Full-time designer
Part-time coffee barista

Hi, I’m Billy, a product designer with 9 years of experience, specializing in building useful SaaS products for startups over the last 6 years.

Linear Background

My approach to design has been heavily influenced by my 5 years at Later, where I had the opportunity to work directly with the CEO in the early days. This experience taught me the role of design in driving business success, especially in startups. I’m grateful for all the learnings and proud to have contributed to Later’s acquisition in 2022.

I create meaningful user experiences by leveraging both quantitative and qualitative data. This combination helps me understand problems and, more importantly, determine if they’re the right ones to solve, ensuring that the solutions provide value to both the business and its users. My approach is transparent, collaborative, and outcome-focused, guided by the Shape Up framework. I’m comfortable stepping outside of Figma to communicate with PMs and engineers, making sure that design decisions are clearly communicated. This, in my opinion, is one of the most overlooked skill for a designer.

As a big believer in mentorship, I’m active on ADP List, where I share my knowledge and help others grow. I believe the best way to evolve as a designer is by learning from your mistakes, and I’m all about passing on those learnings. To me, the ability to learn from your mistakes is far more valuable than striving for perfection.

On the personal side, I like to call myself the world’s okayest coffee barista. I enjoy making and drinking coffee at home with my wife and friends — there’s nothing like a good conversation over a great cup of coffee. If you’re into espresso, let’s chat! And if you have an espresso machine, be sure to check out my espresso accessories buying guide.
